it's almost not worth the pain, but now that I have it I am happy to say IMPROVE the STUPID App to make it have the full functionality of your OLDER software WITHOUT forcing me to use the fargin internet for LOCAL CONNECTIVITY FUNCTIONS.
#UNABLE TO SCAN TO COMPUTER FROM 8740 PLUS#
the ONE plus this software gives me over the built-in crappy Windows basic scan shit software. What I do appreciate is that when I FINALLY find a path to getting simple functionality back, I get to save as a PDF. This is all an aside to the unnecessary complexity and time-wasting of setting up the "S(mart)tupid App" for something so simple. Or perhaps it's just the upper ranks of the marketing department demanding they write this shit software, hell-bent on defaulting everyone to the fuck-you-in-the-ass "cloud." Privacy concerns? Forget about it, if you're connected to the internet and some hacker wants to spy on you they're gonna do it, and a fucking "cloud" is inherently less secure than a billion little hard drives behind personal power switches.

It seems like the children have grown up and into programmers that make a lot of stupid decisions. assholes making software for what used to and could still be the best printers. The only reason i got it because at the time i had the money and it happened to be on clearance at walmart then. I got my printer on clearance for 35 dollars. Only the fucking rich at the prices everything is. I still have to buy the other cartridge to even use the damn thing. I can buy a year of Playstation Plus for that.

I can buy a brand new video game for ps4 and ps5 for that. I can buy a quarter of weed at the dispensary for that. 70 dollars for one ink cartridge to print almost nothing. Probably 20 for the price of one home printed photograph. And photographs, if you print them yourself, For the price of printing one you can get many printed at a store. Cost several dollars a page to print documents for me usually. And for me i hardly print anything and it is gone in a flash. I mean it cost more than the printer for an INK cartridge. Ink is supposed to be in short supply, very expensive and HP is nothing but waste of ink. My started cartridges dried up in it as i needed color to print anything else. Old printers didn't require the color for black and white. Wouldn't let me print with black only for grey-scale. Just a few photos ran an expensive ink card dry of a specific color then couldn't be used any longer. I am not using it as a photo printer, It cost 20x the price of paying to get them printed at the store i found out. I can't afford much ink so i am primarily using it as a scanner to scan documents and sometimes need to print a grey-scale scan of documents for proof of this or that. Can't scan photographs or documents and print them. I can't even print a document i type out, Or things i create in a paint app or photoshop type app. Can't afford internet anymore like a lot of people because of the pandemic. I wouldn't doubt they keeping track of what you print and scan for the Government. It is to spy and find new ways to advertise to you. How do i print over local LAN when the internet is down without HP wanting to spy on your ass. You know what happens with all those IOT devices. I wouldn't buy a printer that requires logging into a network to use. I don't want to login to HP to use my printer that never required logging into when i first got it.
#UNABLE TO SCAN TO COMPUTER FROM 8740 OFFLINE#
The only way to control my damn printer offline and now they want an account and login all the sudden on an aging printer. My HP smart app updated and then hit me with the login bomb.
